The Lymph Info Trust wants to improve the quality of life of anyone in NZ with a lymphatic condition through education and raising awareness.
We will empower New Zealanders who are living with lymphoedema, lipoedema and phlebolymphoedema. We provide understandable information, education and resources. We do this to help your understanding of lymphoedema and its’ treatments.
Lymphoedema is a chronic condition that cannot be cured. When the lymphatic system is damaged, fluid builds up in the tissue under the skin. Lymphoedema normally results in swelling of the arms and legs, but can include head and body.
This condition can be managed, but if left untreated it can cause serious problems. It can impact quality of life. For some people it can affect their mobility. It can also put you at risk of skin infections called cellulitis.
It is hard to know how many people have this chronic condition in New Zealand. We don’t currently collect the data on this condition. Lymphoedema can go undiagnosed. This website has information about lymphoedema and lipoedema, including information on diagnosis, treatment and looking after yourself. Check out the other pages to learn more.
